Scoring System

The final scores are based on the cumulative and tabulated points on each individual’s scorecard.

Top-rope climbing

  • Points are awarded based on difficulty level of the climb(s).
  • For a “Top”, BOTH hands must be securely placed on the ending tile, and the route judge has given his/her approval.
  • For bonus tiles, half points are awarded only once per route, and climber must have had a steady handgrip on the tile.
  • Tapping, using bonus tiles as footholds only, or any other similar actions will result in the points for bonus not being awarded.
  • Lane hogging is not allowed: Start within 20 seconds or forfeit your turn.
  • Strictly one climb is allowed per turn. Once you have finished a climb, or your climb has been terminated, you are required to unclip and re-queue if you wish to do the same route.
  • A climber will be asked to terminate his/her climb and be lowered when:
  • The climber pulls on a quickdraw/hanger;
  • The climber rests/falls on the climbing rope;
  • The climber uses any hold other than those intended for the route;
  • The climber uses T-Nut hole on the panels;
  • The climber uses artificial aid/equipment in his/her attempt;
  • The climber has taken more than 5 minutes on the climb but yet to complete.
  • All route judges have the right to terminate, or not award points for your climb, so long as within justifiable reason(s).
